Vapor lock - Possible
Is it possible to have vapor lock on the 944's? A fellow poster is having an issue and the symptoms are sounding more and more like his issue is fuel related. I didn't think it would be possible, but I can't say for sure.
Symptoms: starts, runs great. shut it down and it wont start back up. Let it sit...sometimes for a day or two and it starts up immediatly and runs great. I dont think it's a dme or ref/speed sensor issue. Just sounding more and more like it's fuel related...maybe a vacuum issue.

its been sitting about an hour now and i went to start it and it started firing up and then died. I pulled off the gas cap like you said to see if anything happened but it still isn't starting. I have pulled the fuel rail cap off a couple of days ago and its getting fuel, the injectors fire evenly and on time.

Pull the plugs and see if they are wet with fuel. Doesnt take much to foul them.

My '83 did the same thing. Turned out to be the dme (fuel relay). Replaced it. No problems since.

Have you replaced the DME relay lately? If I was having trouble I would for sure put in a new one (you already have a spare in the glove box right?). Put it in and eliminate that variable.
Check your fuel pressure. You pulled the fuel rail and found that you have fuel but is it at the correct pressure? Use the fitting right on the end of the fuel rail. I ended up building my own adapter the the stuff at Lindsey Racing sure looks good for this. As mentioned check for spark when it won't start. I wonder if one could just use a timing light to check for spark? What about the AFM (barn door)? Check Clarks for checkout procedure. You probably already know all of this but I'm just thinking of what I would do. Good Luck.

Yea all these have been tried. Just wanted to know if this was possible on these cars. I know I have had it on some other cars I have owned.
