Question Mystery dash light - passenger side

I am in the process of installing a new dash. When removing the passenger side trim strip (clock, lighter etc.), I happened across this light bulb floating behind the trim. I think it should clip next to the clock (between the clock and the lighter) as there appear to be a broken clip there, but I am not certain. Can anyone please shed some light? (no pun intended)

Many thanks!

That is your lighter light. It clips to the side of the lighter so at night when you pull the lighter out you can see where to put it back.

Lighter light is exactly what that is. The clip it goes into is actually part of that main trim piece that always seems to break.

Thanks guys. Now that its identity is established, does anyone have any specific thoughts on fixing it so that it stays in place. If anyone has a photo of the proper orientation etc. could you please post?

Many thanks,
Fergus

The way you have the bulb is correct, just keep moving it forward. Only thing you can do is either super glue it back in or replace the trim piece. Trim piece is around $47 if I remember right.

I ended up using some black RTV to mount the light in the correct place. I tried the super glue and it would not stay. Mike

Thanks guys. Am going to try to build some sort of spring clip that I can epoxy to the old mounting surface (the one that appears broken). Failing that you have given me alternatives.
