Acceleration glitch, Need HELP BAD Daily Driver!!!!

OK, not sure what the heck is going on, this is the first time this has happened to me at all!!!

Just started after picking up my kids from school, made it almost home, about 3 blocks away from the house.

The car just started glitching, like you hit the accelerator, and let off real quick, make any sence? Whn you let off to let the car idel, it idels just fine no problems, but you step on the accelerator, and it goes up ato around 2 - 3 thousoand rpms, and shuts offm goes to regular idal, then goes back to same rpms and shuts off. Where do I need to start? This is my daily driver and not sure if it is the throttle body, or what. Any help. Thanks Mike

Since you just did the alternator make sure your connections are tightened down on everything.

Could maybe be some bad gas. Put a bottle of Heat in the tank and drive it around the block.

Well, I got to talk with Tom today and we did some over the phone troubleshooting, really smart guy!, and looking at the DME Relay, the connectors looked like they have been hot, they were a little discolored. SO I had another DME Relay in the golve box and replace it. I will find out tomorrow morning if that was the problem. We think it is, hopefully! Went and ordered another DME Relay for the glove box incase. A lot that I have seen on the postes ends up being the Relay. Will keep everyone informed! Thanks for all the help!!!

Well, wanted to give an update. Replaced the DME Relay with another one I had and I have drove it the last 2 days with out problems. Now I see why you really need an extra one. I orderd one already and it os on the way. That will be one part in my glove box from now on! Mike

In case its not the DME relay...

Take a look at my "Electrical Help" post. My 85.5 had similar problem, and even though I'm not 100% sure I've got the problem corrected, I believe it was the throttle position switch. Mine had moisture in it, which I'm guessing resulted in incorrect signals to the DME unit.

Hope the DME relay fixes the problem for you, but if not... I would check the TPS switch next.
