Front Porsche Emblem

How do you replace the gasket for the front hood Porsche emblem on an 84 944?

it should be stretched over the badge. Some have let it sit in boiling water to lossen it up and then putting it on the badge and then bolting to the car. Others have used a heat gun or hair dryer.

Also, on an early, the header panel is spot welded into place, while the later cars are attached with screws.

I replaced mine, got it pretty cheap on eBay, authentic. I was able to get my had behind it, gasket did not fit extreamly well, I should have heated it up. Makes the front end look alot better, just from that. Mike

The gasket is really annoying. It takes time and would be easier with three hands. I found a dab of instant glue helped.

Here is what Ian at 944 Online had to say about the emblems.

The normal emblem for the 944 uses the rubber grommets that you insert from the top side of the nose panel. The emblem and gasket are just inserted together into these grommets using a friction fit. This is the only option that I know of for the welded-on nose panels on early 944's.

Some people sell Porsche emblems with the metal nuts that screw on the backside. These are for 911's, not 944's.

Hope this helps a little bit - I know that I was confused about this when I was buying a new emblem for my 951.

Cheers,

Keith

Ya it just pushes in... Get a heat gun and just take your time and that gasket should be no problem.
