Double Din install in the front speaker opening
Hello,
I have seen a few pictures of early model 944's with a double din GPS/DVD unit installed where the front single speaker is monted. Has anyone else seen this? is there a kit to do this? it looks fantastic thanx

Do you mean a monitor or the head unit? I have never seen a head unit installed there. Dont even think it will work where the speaker is on early cars.
If you mean a monitor then yes I have seen it done. Depends on the size of the screen. Would be good to have some experience with fiberglass or working with vinyl. But it can be done.

The ones I have seen were the 7" head units. Full GPS DVD etc...

There isn't any room there. It's pretty shallow. I can see a monitor, but not a full unit. There's also nothing to remove to gain room for a full unit, unless you don't mind cutting the firewall and having the back end of the radio sticking out under the windshield.

Your not going to get a head unit in there.
Best things for that space....center channel speaker if your doing full 5.1 sound (perfect place!!) Or an LCD. You wont get any radio to fit in there let alone a double din unit.
