Brake feel?
I'm sure this is just my mind playing tricks on me, but I swear my brakes started acting better the second I ordered a new master cylinder... Just to clear this up once and for all before I put the new thing in and make it un-returnable - In general, what should 944 brakes feel like? My pedal goes down to the point were it's about flush with, or perhaps a wee bit lower than the height of the gas pedal before it starts to stiffen up or work any, and never really feels totally solid... If I stand on it really, really hard it will eventually sink more or less to the floor, whereas in all my other cars, it eventually hits a spot where it feels solid.
And yes, I've bleed the brakes a bajillion times - there isn't ANY air in the lines, nor does it feel like there is.

You should feel the brakes engage within a half inch, maybe slightly more.

Somewhere something is giving...how old are your brake lines ? I remember when I first brought my Honda Prelude out to the track and I killed the brakes...I always had a problem with the brakes holding up on that car...I could always push the pedal down to the floor with force. I found that the brake lines from the factory were not well made and I replaced them with steel braided lines. If there is no air in the lines, then your brake lines must be expanding on you do to old age (that is if the fluid is not leaking somewhere, like one of the valves?)

No fluid leakage for sure, but I guess I can't factor out old lines just yet. I dunno if it will help for diagnosis at all, but with the engine off I can pump the brakes to the point at which they're more or less solid, which I've not been able to do on other cars when there was air in the lines...

If you pump up the brakes till they are firm with the motor off and start the engine, do they then sink to the floor? It could be the booster. +1 on the lines though, with stainless lines and good pads, the brake feel on my 944 is second to none.
It sounds like air in the lines is not your problem.
