What are these wheels worth?

I have a set of 1984 Fuchs... The silver is peeling but the wheels are solid and the center crests look good. No serious scratches or gouges. The back needs some serious elbow grease. I don't have the time or inclination to bring these back, but I'm sure someone does. The tires are Kuhmo Ecstas, in good shape. Probably 75% tread. Front is 205_55ZR16_91W and rear is 225_50ZR16_92W. I see refinished ones list for about $350 each...

I think you could get $600 on eBay but I would take some time and at least clean the chrome. Right now they look pitted. some chrome polish and 30 minutes will probalby add considerable value.

They're not nearly as bad as they look. There are no actual pits, the coating is warped and has bubbled up everywhere. Thanks, that's about what I figured I could ask.

Is the coating chrome or clear coat over polished aluminum?

It's chrome.

If it is bubbling then they will have to be stripped and refinished which will drive down the price. I would think $600.

I bought a set of 16" for $600 which were in a little better shape.

Is it worth the time to at least strip it myself & clean it up, then? Or is that better left to whoever has the means to re-coat the wheel?

Thanks for the replies.

I was just trying to get a ballpark. I've got my eye on a glass sunroof and was hoping to make up most of the cost by selling these.

I'd rather not go through Ebay if I don't have to... I'll try my luck on the P-car forums first, I think.

It really depends on how you intend to sell them. If selling on eBay, the customer only has a photo to gauge the wheels and they look pitted in the photo.

Try and take some pictures with out the flash, they might come out better and not highlight the spots. I sell a lot on e-Bay and I always get more if I clean things up. Of course, when I'm buying...I always get the best deals on the dirty stuff cause no one else bids against me.

Just my $0.02 worth......Vern
