Mystery Wires behind Radio
I'm replacing my radio tonight on my '88 944 NA project car. i pulled the original Blaupunkt radio out and found the wires I expected connected to the radio. I also found several other wires loose in the same area but not connected to anything. All the switches and equipment on the dash appear to be working so it is not obvious where they go. Could they be for powering the optional equalizer that this car did not have? Here is a picture that shows the wires in question. i just didn't want to button it all up to find I could have (or should have) reconnected these mystery wires to something!

My guess would be wires for the 10 speaker option or for the optional equlizer.

Your car never had the equalizer, the connector for that is a white clip like the radio except it is a square.

Thanks for the help.
I put the new(er) radio and speakers in and I'm rock'n out finally (and can hear KNBR sports talk radio with the sunroof off))! I just taped up the mystery wires and put them in a secure place under the radio. If I ever come across something that doesn't work I'll check on the mystery wires. They were almost all red and brown so I would think they were for power to some non-installed accessory. Time will tell but I think they are just spares; on to the next project!

Those are only used on the James Bond edition, they are for the ejector seat button.
