Sunroof fuse

For some reason or another I keep blowing the fuse (#1) for the sunroof. All that I have done is to replace the battery. Ever since that, this keeps happening.

On one side of the fuse I get 12v+. On the other post is ground, which I have verified by checking continuity to the chassis. This doesn't sound right to me.

I have taken out the sunroof switch as well as disconnected the connector back at the sunroof motor. Keeps blowing the fuse.

Anyone have any idea's?

You must have a short to ground on the one side. Maybe the insulation is pinched somewhere, or it cracked open and is shorting?

I agree, but where?

Does the wire from the fuse go to switch or to the motor?

One thing I did notice is that there is 12v+ to the fuse constantly, no matter if the ignition switch is on or not.

Well, after the fuse is the relay, which is a very complex solid state affair (At least on the later models). Have you taken that out and seen if the fuse still blows?

I know that one problem I had with blowing fuses was when I swapped some of the connectors for the switches near the shifter.

Let's see if any of this helps...

Not gonna believe this one.

It was the relay. It wasn't bad, just the wrong one! Can't believe it.

Now it's off to figure out the issue with the fog lights and reading more of the electrical schemtics. Fun
