St. Louis area get together/drive

So Steve (shikzachaser) and myself are potentially free coming this weekend and the following weekend. Both our cars are up to shape and we're interested in a drive/bbq.

hpservertech is the only other member I know in the STL area. I'm currently in the Rolla area and I know I have seen two other 944's in the area.

hpserver- is your car up and running yet? If not maybe me and Steve can take a drive out to St. Charles and loiter around your garage.

Anyone interested in coming? We have no plans as of yet so I'm open to suggestions. Last time Steve graciously donated a set of pioneer 4x6's to my cause and now long drives are slightly more comfortable (until I get that cat-delete pipe)..

I should be in. I'm open next weekend. If you guys want to come by though that would be awsome. I'll have the new one definatly by this weekend.

BTW, I know of a late 85 that is for sale in the area, needs a new clutch, but that's it.

How about a drive down 94 from 94/40 to Herman then 55 back. Some good twisties.

I sent an e-mail to another guy I know that lives in the area to see if he is available.

I just checked w/ the wardon and she is working next Saturday leaving me free. I won't even have to chew my collar off and run away. Let me know.
HP / disregard my PM, I responded prior to reading this post. The 94 / Herman run sounds good to me. My old beater should be up to it.

Mike: glad the speakers help a bit. I am going to get a list of extra stuff I have laying around together as all it is doing is taking up space. I would like to see it go to use for someone.

Hopefully there are some other 944 owners in the STL area that are interested, if not 3 cars sounds good to me. That should help limit the number of DME relays, vacuum leaks, etc that we will have to address.

Steve

Sounds great. I don't know any other STL area 944's. Ed R. from Caledonia (way south) has moved I believe as he was trying to sell his project car last year. He had a friend named Rick who owned a silver '87 that was pristine condition. He was an older guy, don't have a phone number for him. He had a wrecked early parts car that he was saving in case he ever needed an engine or something big... it was sitting in a barn. Lost his phone number a long time ago, allthough I do remember where he lives. Might have to stop there some day and knock on his door...

Anyways I'm rambling. as for the drive,
Shall we ask the 911 board if anyone is up to join in?

I know a guy out in St. Charles, sent him an e-mail. Will see if he is interested. I'm all for everyone meeting here and working on cars. I have lots of driveway space.

Of course. I'll probably have at least 1 or two kids in tow.

firefighter7128 - would be great if you could come. I split time between South STL and Rolla, MO, the latter may be on your way up 44.

I'll be alone most likely as the me and the 'wife' stopped talking about a month ago... more time to work on the track car- of which I'll bring photos.
So which Saturday. this (16th) or the next (23rd)?

I was up early this morning and took a drive the Lowe's at the crack of dawn, it was nice out; 63 degrees. I had the roof off, windows down, and heater on :-) I may be a bit down on power but it still gets up and goes, just not like some others I have ridden in. Triple digit speeds are attainable but after that not so much. Maybe if I still have this car after I finish the track car I will do a rebuild on it also (needs rubber centered clutch replaced and an AC delete).

The 23rd is my 29th bday. We were talking about a party but i would rather be down for a drive.

I'm in for Saturday unless it rains. I have driven the 944 a total of maybe 20 times in the rain since 1989.

We'll see what the weather is like for this Saturday. It would be best for me also as my semester starts the week after next. Unless it rains; I have driven mine in the rian once and it wasn't fun.

So far it looks like it's just going to be cloudy and only up to 78.

How does a drive down 94, starting at 94/40 to Herman, then 100 back up to 55? We can always stop in Herman to get a bite to eat.

I'm open to other idea's as well. 94 & 109 are a couple of good twisty roads that I know of around here, but am sure there are some others.

A nice drive w/ lunch would be good. If I bring Morgan she usually sleeps from 10:30 or so until 11:30 or 12:00 so the timing would be good. If there aren't any other little ones going she can stay w/ her dad and help him finish his basement, no big deal either way. If we are going to stop and have a couple brews I may leave her at home just for safety concerns. Let me know the time and place. I havn't taken mine anywhere since I went to Chicago last fall, it's due. If the weather turns bad we could always plie in my ML and still take the drive and just shoot the s%@$@& about the Porsches. It may be a truck but it has the heart of a German car.

Whatever works for everybody else is fine w/ me. I will probably not be bringing the granddaughter, she wants to go boating instead. You taking the P-CAR to Granite City? We could meet up here and do a couple brats or something if you are and then head out 44, cut over to 100 and on to Agusta and end up in St Charles. I am just off 44 in Kirkwood.

Not sure if I'll even be going. It's kind of up in the air. I can always go Sunday morning if I need to.

If we want to do lunch on the way though we can start around 11 and eat lunch in Herman then head back 100.
