Clutch Pedal Travel

I haven't driven the 951 in two weeks.

Suddenly I notice that I can press the clutch pedal down about an inch before the hydraulics engage at all. Is this normal? I may just be noticing something that has always been this way.

sounds normal, there should be some free play, when there is no play is when there is a problem

There should be about an 1/8" at the pedal. Otherwise your TOB and clutch fork are always in contact under tension.

There's an adjustment in the FSM for this.

If so, it is on there

There should be .5 mm clearance between clutch push rod and master cylinder piston. This translates into approx 3 mm play in the pedal.

There is a bolt that can be undone and the freeplay can be adjusted. If this changes, though, I'd look into the master cylinder a little deeper.
