Will a set of cartridge (insert body) 1986 na struts, fit an 87 na sealed strut car?
I ask because I think it would be great to have the replaceable cartridge style over the make it work Koni -14"s

No they wont. koni's are the only inserts you can put in 87+ struts.

I don't think I phrased my question right. I can buy a set of 86 struts that need new cartridges. I would replace the entire 87 struts (sealed) with the 86 struts
with new cartridges. Would this work?

No they wont. First off the holes wont line up correctly. Also the opening of the lower mount is wider on earlier struts, so you would have to shim it to make it fit correctly.

Why pay for used strut houses + shipping and then new inserts + shipping? Rear koni's are not all that expensive, $110 each side.
