What i wouldnt do for a 911...

i would so trade my freshly fixed up 944 for an 80's 911... that would be awesome. problem is any respectable 911 owner wouldnt trade for a 944... oh well, ill just wait 5 years :p

each his own, i guess. If 911 maintenance and parts weren't so expensive maybe. I do like the looks of the newer 911's, but I think a lot of the 80's models look like snails with headlights. 944 parts aren't that expensive and there are plenty of ones being parted out. Other than the t-belt and clutch, most things aren't that hard to do and like i said parts are normally pretty cheap, at least considering it's a porsche. places like pelican, 944online, and arnnworx keep parts prices low, and even sometimes offer better tnan oem parts at cheaper prices. I suppose if money was no object, I'd own a new 911, along with many other high end sports cars, but that time is a long way off. If I ever have enough money to own several high end sports cars, I'll tell you this, I'd be a checkbook mechanic all the way.

You never know, there are 911 owners out there with 944 race cars. With an S2 engine yours would be ideal. You will probably be able to run circles around many 911's on the track.

any self respecting 911 owner should never look down on a 944 or a 944 owner....
if this is the case well he does not deserve to own such a work of mechanical art and could likely not change a flat tire........

The daily driver so the 944 can stay nice and pretty until I want to take it out and thrash it around.

Enjoy your 944, it is a cool car.

I have a secret lust for a 87' Carrera but don't tell anybody. I would have to change my screen name to speedracing911 and start over on my post count. :)

Speedy:)

Second that thought, my 931 whips its 911 contemporaries on the track.

I KNEW it! The secrets out now Speedy! You don't deserve that 944. The only way you can save any face on this forum--retain any dignity after this atrocious confession--is to sell your 944...

To me :D

Seriously though; the 911's are definitely "the Porsche" cars. I tell people I have a 924S and they're look at me like I'm from outer space...or France; whichever they personally consider worse. Say "911" and everyone knows what you have.

Which is one reason I don't really want one. The weight ratio is so close to perfect on the FR's that they handle freakishly good. Even with all the modifications I've done to The Dirty Bird, with all the horses I have crammed into my El Camino, my all too short driving experience with an Evo (Owner: "I didn't know she could do that!" Me: "Neither did I.") I've not been in a car that said "Drive me" the way my cheap little entry level 924S can.

Anyone want to trade my beat up n/a 944 for a 993 turbo?

Besides the horsepower bump, the S2 has gobs more low-end grunt. The S2 will crush an NA or Turbo off the line.

i, on the other hand, am completely on the other end of the spectrum, would take the 944 any day of the week, and twice on sunday, and would never own a 911 - i think they look too much like the bug from whence they came, sound like a hoover, and drive like a shopping cart - not my cup of tea to say the least

but then, that's why they made both, right?
