brake/clutch bleeding

OK! I have been bleeding most of my life, but this one is kicking me. I lost pressure and looked for leaks and found none. I bled the system and continued to get air, especially at the clutch slave. I replace the clutch slave cylinder and went to bleeding again. I am still getting nowhere, but a lot of air and 3 qts. of fluid now now. at least I have clean system, but it is full of air. I have done both the pump method and the mighty mite. Is there something about a 944 I don't know here?

Barry

Motive bleeder you need..but if you don't have one make sure the ass end of the car is higher than the front when bleeding the slave cylinder..

You don't have any brakes or just no clutch? Did you keep the fluid level in the MC resevoir high enough? And still kept getting air in?

I just bled my clutch slave, and had sort of the same problem - mass air was getting in.

I think what happened is that air was getting in through the threads of the bleed valve on the slave (not the brakes).

I worked on it for maybe a couple hours with a Mighty-Vac and got nowhere.

I broke down and got a Motive Bleeder and solved the problem in maybe 15 minutes (after pushing out what seemed like 10 gallons of air). That pressurizes the MC (rather than sucking the fluid out with a Mighty-Vac).

On my 83 NA, I solved the problem differently, by bleeding the slave by loosening the hydraulic line, rather than the bleeder - which of course is strictly a no no.

But it worked. The line goes in at the top of the slave which is good in terms of getting the air out.

Maybe the bleeders on your brakes are leaking air like the bleeder on my slave?

Overall, I like the Motive Bleeder better.
