Brakes inoperate, makes WOOSHING Sound?
 

Hi, I recently got my new-to-me '84 944 NA running, and I found that the brakes barely work at all. When I step on the brake pedal, I hear a sound like a lot of air flowing (WOOSH), then a sound like a whale is dying or something....EEERRROOOOOAAHH. :(

Also, I have a stuck rear caliper.

What is the best way to handle my brake issues? If this car wasn't so fast I wouldn't care about the brakes... :cool:

Booster leak... check the air hose to the brake booster, but likely you'll find the booster itself maybe has the leak? Sounds like you'll have to replace it (no pun intended)...

PS - better check your undercarriage for dead whales... ;)

a dead whale would explain why your brakes aren't working. that's a lot of extra tonnage to be trying to stop.
