Interesting, ive never seen those on a US Market car. Maybe some kind of silencer for the intake system. Ive seen something like that on my friends Nissan SE-R.

what about for 'dampening' 'pressure bumps'?
sort of like a reserve airbox, that when the intake is cranked open theres air ready to be sucked in rather than sucking against just whats coming in from the air filter?

How about a "resonance damper" Europe has pretty strict noise limits, and the S2 makes a lotta intake noise, so...

It was probably destined for one of the smaller countries w/ even stricter mandates of the German models don't have it.

I don't have PET loaded on the computer so I can't look, but is there an M *** # next to the part number?

That may tell which country it was made for...

Correct. Europe has very tight noise restrictions and most new cars nowadays come with the most ingenious weird shaped resonator boxes hookerd up to the intake.

So this is resonator box is hooked up indeed solely to reduce intake noise.

Thank you for my word of the day ---hoonage.
1. hoonage
Aggressively flogging a car, but in a manner that stops just short of reckless.
Taking that turn sideways at 60 miles per hour? That's some serious hoonage.
