18" wheels?
i was looking for rims and the only ones i can come across are 18's. first of all does anyone know if they will fit, second does anyone know or have any pics of a 944 with 18s i don't want them to be too big. 18's in the first place are not ideal for handling. 17's are best but no luck. btw 18x8.5 and 18x10 5x130 with a 3.5" lip.

remember that the larger the wheel, the more weight you add to the suspension - you also add a LOT of stress to the bushings, spindle, and hub - if your components are original, you can expect to wear things out very quickly - if you plan to drive the car hard, upgrade those components - any extra weight will also cost you in acceleration and braking
it can be done, but it isn't a straight "stick them on there" mod there is also a memo from porsche warning against putting 18s on these cars all that aside, as to fitment, you have to look at the offsets and tire sizes intended (the lip is irrelevant) |

the company i am getting them from offer many different offsets to fit your application without needing spacers. so thats not an issue. oh man i just hope they dont look ridiculous. if they made a 17 thad be great but no. none within my budget. i already have many power improvements which would make up for any extra rotating mass. id like to see this memo. still lookin for a pick with 18's

it's out there - i don't have a copy here - i saw it on one of these boards though
braking is the bigger worry - the extra rotating mass will really make a difference, especially if you go to wide (and therefore heavy) tires - take a look at the tire weights, and you will see how much as for acceleration loss, remember that 1 pound on a wheel is like 4 on the chassis - so, a modest 4 lb increase on a wheel/tire combo is like adding 64lbs to the car - it adds up fast - it is common to see larger wheels add as much as a passenger to the effective weight they do look cool though - i have 18s on my 968 - they are VERY light though - there is a bit of ride compromise too - i also had to make MAJOR suspension changes to make it work that being said, i am contemplating going back down to 17s on the street car, for the reasons i mentioned above |
