Hi I'm new to this so I don't know if it has been covered already.
I have an 83 944 and every time I try to start the car, it will crank but will not start. After the second attempt it will kill my battery completely. Car will start if I jump it with another car. I have removed battery while car is running and car will stay on. I leave it running for a while and then shut the car off and try to get it going again it wont start back up. I have tried this with a used battery and a brand new one |

first check for spark by pulling a plug and laying against the engine. Crank the engine and observe the spark across the gap.
