stick shift/boot removal
Hi...
I just got a new stick shift and boot to replace my old ripped boot. How do I remove my old shifter and knob to put the new one on? I tried prying up on the plastic cap on the knob and only managed to crack it a little. I must be doing something wrong. I searched this forum and also clarksgarage, but didn't find anything. thanks.

You'll need to remove the entire boot, starting with the trim ring at the base that holds the leather in centre console. Pry up the rectangular plastic ring *carefully* with a flat screwdriver, then pull up the boot. You'll see where the top of the boot attaches to the shifter - disconnect and you're good to replace it.

It is a metal "C" clip that is at the base of the shifter. Once you pull up the boot you will see it. Just pull that off and the shifter slides right off.
