944 Auto flex damper installation and set up
 

Anybody out there know if there is a "pre tension" set up for the 944 auto flex damper, I've been reading some and the 928 wants the damper tension released before locking the driveshaft coupling down.

This is one of those arcane things deep in the full service manual which I don't have.

This is my second damper in some 75,000 miles, trying to "walk back the cat" on why the first one lasted almost twice as long.

Also, in a response below, I worry about the age of these "new" rubber parts and dry rot, could this be an issue?

Informed speculation is welcomed.
