Unique 944 paint schemes
Hey guys, im looking at buying a 944 that's in nice mechanical shape but the paint needs some help. I have a friend who paints his own show and race cars, a while back he said he'd paint my 76' chevy C-10 pickup but we ended up selling that truck. Anyways I'm going to ask him to repaint the 944 if we do end up purchasing it. The problem is I always see red, white, and black 944s and there just not unique or stand out (no offense to you guys with red, white and black 944s :P) Ive seen that 944 in baby blue with the orange stripe and i LOVED that car. Does anyone else have pictures of unique paint schemes on the 944? I'm looking for some inspiration (kinda want to do burnt orange with black or dark blue pin striping)

I would love to do a orange 944. Just orange! Black wheels.
I was also thinking of flat gray? My 85.5 needs a paint job too. I do really like my white 944 though.

I assume you are referring to the Gulf scheme?

I love that blue and orange. So pretty.
I'm planning to do my 944 LS1 in a soft yellow (not too soft, but not too bright either), without actual racing stripes but some cool artistic dark red and black accents. My brother does 3D modeling so he's going to model the car on the computer so we can add paint jobs and design what I want before we jump in and paint the car.

LOVE the gulf paint scheme but I really like burnt orange and dark blue rims and accents or matte black rims

Black rims are almost always good. I've done a little custom work on my 924S, it used to be all red with silver phone dials...the new ones are 928 dish wheels.

Bell, That's what I'm talking about, orange with black wheels. Your car looks great. And it's vinyl? It looks good from the pictures, is it easy to tell it's vinyl up close? How long did it take to put on?

Its a 10 footer, because I used cheap sign vinyl which doesn't stretch well.....
I have maybe $30 in the whole thing.....the stock paint was faded and the clear was nearly all off, before the orange it was a 30 footer lol The good air release car vinyl is around $600 for enough to do the whole car, lower grade around $300.........I went with the cheapest cause I don't really care what it looks like lol mechanically she's good to go except for a shock that just went bad.......I'm thinking about going to rs green for the next color change.... Is say I have about 6-8 hours doing it, better vinyl will take less time

I've done rattle can paint on multiple cars, before I finally used it to add the black to my 924S. Fun way to make an old car with not-so-great paint look a little more interesting.

going to look at that car today, will post pictures if we decide to buy. Paint is really rough but that's the point of this thread! If my friend doesn't help me out I'm just going to rattle can it.
