Something broke

Im pretty sure that something broke on my 86' but I am not sure what.
I was driving it to the gas station today and got cut-off by a bus! I slammed on the brakes (which locked up, no abs) and pushed the clutch in. I was wearing my skate shoes which are kinda big, and when I hit the brakes my foot hit the gas as well. It only rev'ed to like 5K and then I let off. After it was over, I put her into first and started to let out the clutch, but then it sounded like I missed a gear and it started grinding (i was def in first tho) I tried again and it went into first fine, but then shifting into second it did the same thing! I pushed the clutch in and all the sudden the engine started to dog. It dipped below 200 rpm (the needle was all the way down on the tach) and I gassed it before it could stall, it reved slowly, then gave up and stalled (first time ever it has stalled for me). There was a noticable amount of smoke coming out from under the car, but im not sure where, somewhere between the engine and where the driver sits. It started fine and seemed to drive fine but was less responsive as usual. I limped it home and checked it out but cant see anything out of the ordinary. It starts fine, but im not sure where my oil pressure is at because my sender hasnt worked since i took it out of storage.
Any ideas what might have happened? Im pretty worried.

Do you know if the clutch in the car is original? Now that it's home, aside from the "less responsive" thing are there any other running and driving or idling issues?

The engine may have reved higher and the tack wasn't fast enough to show it.

I would guess that it is original, I really have no way of knowing besides crawling under and checking the inspection hole.
Matt- I dont think the engine reved much higher then 5 because my car is pretty loud and sounded like it did at 5 g's

these engines have a rev-limiter anyway, so would not allow it to over-rev

Well the rubber centered clutch could have started to disintegrate. A large chunk could be jammed in between the clutch and flywheel or housing. This could cause a lot of drag that will try to stall the engine because even with the clutch plate disengaged, the rubber will still be rubbing on the flywheel. This will also cause the rubber to burn/melt and smoke.

There are inspection holes that have (should have) plugs. Remove these and look in, if you see any rubber debris then your in for a clutch job. Its not that hard in reality, just takes some time. And you could even get away with just a disk, but for the effort its worth doing the whole thing.
