Component Abbreviations
 
:confused: I would greatly appreciate descriptions of the abbreviations used with respect to diagnosing problems with the 944. [mine is a 1983].
Here are the ones I have seen referred to, but there may be some more:
AAV
AFM
DME
ECU
FPR
ICV
ISV
PITA
I realize this could take some time. Is there a list already compiled anywhere?:o

AFM is Air/Fuel mixture or Air Flow Meter depending on context.
ECU is the Electronic Control Unit
and PITA is Pain in the As*

Abbreviations
 
You may want to Google this, some are abbreviations for language not allowed. Just put Porsche in front of the abbreviation (Porsche ECU).
Bosch Motronic DME ECU/EFI

DME - Digital Motor Electronics ECU - Electronic Control Unit EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection

AIFD - Air Intake Fuel Delivery

AAV - Air Auxillary Valve

AFM - Air Flow Meter

FPR - Fuel Pressure Regulator

ICV - Idle Control Valve

ISV - Idle Stabilization Valve

PITA - Pain in the A$$ :D
