HELP....again clutch? tranny?

so was drivin home and i thought i felt my car kind of struggling. it felt as if it would be ok then drag.
well the next day i was drivin and i shifted and it seemed as if it slipped out of gear but i had it in third.
i rolled into a parkin lot and with the clutch pushed in i couldnt get into gear. i turned the car off and started i in gear with the clutch pushed in and tryed to drive.
nothing....
i heard a chatter coming fro the front and it some what tried to move....

anybody have an idea???
is my tranny shot?
did my clutch break?
i have had no issues with the clutch or tranny but this happened all of a sudden
i had the car towed home...
sad to see my porsche on a flatbed for the first time

thanks in advance

By struggling do you mean it was chugging along or that you had no power (high RPM's but minimal "go-factor").

It sounds like your clutch failed. Probably blew the lining apart. Either way if you're gonna try swapping the tranny you'll be able to check the clutch while you're in there so definetly check before ordering that multi-thousand dollar tranny.

Good luck

You might look at the shift handle under the leather boot and check to see if the C/E clip fell out. I doubt it but you may be lucky.

Your 1990 944S2 might need a new clutch disc.

so i can shift when the car is off easily but when running its hard to put into a gear if it will even go. i have not been able to put it into reverse with the motor running at all....

checked the shifter seemed fine. i can hear it switching gears behind me when i move it around with the motor off

I just posted this for someelse about 5 minutes ago. If it has a rubber center clutch it's easy to check. Jack the rear of the car; trans in neutral; remove the large rubber inspection plate on the rear TT housing; grab the TT shaft and try to rotate it back and forth. If it rotates more than a little and clunks up front your rubber centered clutch is going. A failing rubber type clutch will clunk on both upshift and downshift as the metal limp home tabs make contact.

ok i may sound stupid sayin this but i dont know what TT is...
i dont think there is anything rubber broken. i hear what sounds like metal

today i jacked up the rear and put it in gear and the tires spin but only idle speed and will stop if u put ur foot on them.

is there somethin that could have came loose?
like i said i hear somethin from the front where the clutch and motor meet i guess. its rattling around and sounds like metal

TT = Torque tube (driveshaft)

The reason you can't shift with the car running is the clutch isn't disengaging the engine from the transmission. With the engine pressure on the transmission, it will not shift easily.

If you have a rubber center clutch, the clutch plate will clunk as explained earlier as the metal tabs hit the other metal parts. I'm pretty sure your clutch is shot..sorry.
