'84 new antenna hookup question

I replaced my drivers side mounted manual mast antenna and am now trying to figure out how to get it connected. When I removed the original antenna I cut the cable inside the fender well and pushed the old cable back thru and then pushed in the new cable.

Looking inside the car under the dash, there is a cover right behind the fuse panel which does not look to be easy to remove and I can't see either the old cut cable or the newly inserted one either. From the center console where my radio is installed I can't locate the old antenna cable coming from the radio either at least not by removing things.

Before I start tearing the whole thing apart I was wondering if any body had any experience as to how to approach this...

Thanks!

I had a similar problem with a cut cable and I found this- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVERSAL-MARINE-BOAT-RADIO-DIPOLE-WIRE-AM-FM-ANTENNA_W0QQitemZ370205480513QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBo at_Parts_Accessories_Gear?hash=item5631f75641&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A131 8
it works great, and you can't beat the price.

Thanks,

I just got done fishing the new antenna cable in and from looking up the user manual for the stereo on-line it looks to be a straight plug in. I just ordered replacement removal keys from Ebay so I'm hoping when they show up all I'll have to do is remove the head, unplug the old antenna cable, pull it out and insert the new one.
