Speedometer "popping"

When I'm driving, usually when i'm keeping a steady speed, my speedometer will make a popping noise and shoot up instantaneously about 20 mph....It sounds like a relay is clicking, any idea what this could be? bad ground maybe?

Your speedometer cable needs oil. Remove the left guage cluster carefully. Put your hand and wrist in the hole-press the speedometer forward 1 inch. Unscrew the speedometer cable from the speedometer. NOW--your car has the "upshift" indicator on the right guage cluster. It is connected to the speedometer by 2 thin wires. The wires plug into the right guage cluster--pull gently out.

Grease cable with cable grease/graphite stuff
Put a drop of oil on the speedometer cable "nose". You can put a small screwdriver in the hole to turn and help the oil work in.

Do not cross thread the speedometer cable end on the speedometer body.

When you are done--apply first aid salve to all the cuts on your hand and wrist.

Great buy on the parts!
