Hot air when heater is off

I know this has been covered before, but I can't find the thread. This isn't happening a lot, but occasionally hot air will start blowing out my vents like the heater is on. Doesn't matter if I adjust the temp setting, it blows very hot. What's happening?
Thanks!!

Oh, this is my '87 951 doing this....

Most likely a broken plastic clip in the driver side foot well in the ventilation linkage. Check Clark's Garage. There is a very detailed write up there. When the clip breaks it keeps the heat on as a fail safe for winter driving.

Thanks, John, linkage was disconnected and just hanging. The money I saved not paying a mechanic to fix this will now have to go to the chiropractor, 'cause you gotta twist like a pretzel to get under there !

lol... too funny. It is tight down there. I drove my car dying of heat for two summer till I found this website and Clark's Garage. Thank God for both! Now my car is pretty much brand new! Most things did not need to be replaced, just just needed to be repaired.
