Online engine rebuild manual?

I just picked up a pair of 944s. One's a parts car, the other is /very/ nice but the engine is in pieces. it looks to have had all the machine work done, head rebuilt etc but the bottom end still needs to be assembled.

Is there a manual online that details this procedure? I'm sure I've got the skills to do so but I have no idea what the torque specs are, oil clearances etc.

Thanks!

We don't want to openly advertise the link to the Porsche Factory Service Manual because Porsche is touchy about bootleg copies and we don't want to do anything to get our host into trouble. Right Mr. Moderator?

Oh, and BTW, I PM'd you...

The shop manual has everything you need to perform a rebuild of the engine.

Don't know what the big secret is..we are all meant to be here to help each other right? If the manuals are already on the web then they are already in the public domain. Porsche's issue - if any - should be with those who post the info on the sites, not those who find it on the site.

Terrh (and others) - I'll give you a big clue...if you google the words "Mike" and "Pellegrini" (who happens to be a writer) you might find the 2nd search result useful because buried in that site there is a wealth of information.

Without knowing the rules I hope this post doesn't upset people but I'm only trying to help others out there...

My two cents worth... Not meant to offend anybody.

carlege - I care and you should also. Porsche does not have to get mad, they have lawyers, for a very good reason. Imagine going and buying a "Porsche" part and finding out it is made of poor materials and not even worth putting in your car. Also think about putting that part in your car and going down the highway and it breaks, injuring yourself and other people. Think about buying a book and opening it up and realizing all of the documentation inside has the wrong measurements, work methods, tool information and is totally worthless to you, but would be great for a mouse needing nest building materials.

In the U.S.A. anything that is copyrighted and protected by a manufacturer - regardless of where it is manufactured or engineered - the copyright holder has full rights to the release and use of documents, tools, etc... Corporate giants have lawyers that are ready and willing to jump on the little guy for illegally selling or copying their products.
A lot of other countries abide by the same commercial laws and expect the same from citizens in the U.S.A. toward their products.

With that said and the internet being an open forum, information is shared and passed without regard to those laws.

If you do use illegal documents or obtain and use illegal parts, you are taking away another person's job and showing no respect for (in this case) the vehicle you are repairing. I am sure a lot of people in the U.S.A. know how important it is to have a job - regardless of the political what not jabberajoo.

I would love to have the correct documents and manuals for my cars. Some have been released by Porsche, others have not. If the docs are on an open forum and cleared by Porsche, I will use them. But, how do I know and how much trouble am I going to go through to guarantee they have been released by Porsche?

Not a lot - I have a life to live. For myself, I always try to do what I think is the right thing because I know that if I use something that belongs to somebody else without their permission, it will hurt them and can hurt me. Common sense and responsibility goes a long way.

Just remember, when you crank up your Porsche, there is an engineering reason it was manufactured with such ingenuity and precision.

Pelican has to follow the rules from PCNA.

You can find the PET --Porsche Electronischer Teilekatalog--Parts catalogs and diagrams on Pelican here.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLookup/Parts_Lookup_Main_Page.htm

This is the link that does not work "here" on the previous site.
