Pepacking TO Bearing

Is it in fact possible and how is done???

Re-packing the bearing that is... Tired and can't type, changing a clutch is physically/mentally exhausting!!

science,
Procedure.
Step 1. Open jaws of big vice wide enough to allow the inner bearing race room to fall through but still keep the outter race on top of the vice-
Step 2. Get a big socket that fits over the inner race-tap gently-a lot of force is unnecessary.
It will fall down-catch it.
Step 3. With a grease gun needle, insert into/between rollers gently and put a little synthetic HD bearing grease in---------don't pump it up until it explodes
Step 4. There is a thin filmy aluminum dirt sheild on the outside of the bearing. Do Not Bend or tamper with the sheild.
Step 5. Press together with a vice and appropriate cushions to avoid damage to the sheild.

These are the basic steps. The type of grease used should be such to take the TO purpose.

Damage to the TO will occur if you stuff too much grease in or ruin the sheild

I do not recommend cleaning the old grease out--you'll never get it all out--well, you might in the lab...

Important---If you do this---and close the clutch up---you can't go back without a lot of work.

From my mentor SoCal Driver, see post 18:

John, Thanks. As always your info is spot on. I have a shot TO I will try this on to get a feel for it. It's also good to know that reusing my PP isn't total blasphemy, it's in pretty good shape.
