How many bulbs needed for the gauge cluster and HVAC controls?

I want to upgrade the bulbs for my gauge cluster and hvac controls. Does anyone know how many bulbs total? Are all the bulbs the same throughout the gauges and hvac?

Thanks.

I know there are 3 bulbs in the cluster and 2-3 (maybe more) in the climate control

The three in the cluster are pretty easy. There are two in the hvac controls, and one more in the fan knob, and six more in the buttons. These are harder. You have to desolder the back of the switches from the rear of the hvac control unit and pry the pieces apart. You then have to solder the bulbs in and it is kind of tight. I had the most trouble with the one under the fan knob which on the surface looks like the easiest.

Good luck,

I ordered 8 red led bulb equiv's. Im going to do the cluster and hvac for now. I am very afraid to take stuff apart. everything breaks so easyily at 23 years of age. I had a button break a week ago.

I did mine in blue to match the stereo. It looks great. If I ever have it out again I will take it apart and I would not change the color of the on/off indicators for the buttons.

The LED's were too big for the buttons. I bought a spare control unit and attacked that first. I tried grinding out the holes, but it did not turn out well. In the end I had to use light bulb covers for inside the buttons. If you pry open the button housings be careful of flying springs, and put them all back carefully.
