Wacky Speedo and Climate Control
Sometimes when taking off from a stop, my speedometer stays at 0mph till i reach about 20-25mph, then it will jump up and continue working normally. I took apart my gauge cluster thinking the needle would be sticking in the lower mph range, but it moves freely. Anyone know what could be causing this?
Also, my blower motor doesn't work in the "1" position. Works perfect in 2, 3, and 4. Any ideas on what could be causing that? |

For the speedometer you might pull and clean the connector at the tranny to make sure it has a good connection. For the blower motor, check the resistor bank for an open at the #1 position.

the fan switch works on #1 now for some reason, so i guess that problem is resolved.
however, my speedometer is still not working at low speeds. the only way i can get it to work is if i tap the cluster as soon as the car starts moving. could this be a bad connection somewhere? if so, does anyone know which plug in the back holds the speedometer wire(s)? |

I actually had a similar issue with my speedometer. It would start out at zero until I reached around 20 mph or so, then it would bounce randomly to over 30 and back down again.
I noticed there was some kind of connection with the trip-ometer reset button, because when I would press it, the speedo needle would hop slightly. After fiddling with that a few times, my speedometer no longer works. XD So anyway, maybe those two things are related? Bad wiring in the gauge cluster, maybe?
