Reinstalling clutch housing release lever and release lever pivot shaft

Okay guys,

I'm at the point where I am ready to purge bellhousing back on but clarks isn't really helping. Do I put the pivot shaft back through the clutch housing to hold the release lever in place BEFORE I bolt the bell housing back on?

Or do I put the bell housing and releae lever on first and then install the pivot shaft which would seem difficult as there is nothing holding the releae lever in place.

u have to do the 3 sort of simulatenously.

what i did is first tap on the bellhousing without the clutch release lever and the pivot shaft. then thread one of the long bellhousing bolts into top hole on the bellhousing. in enough so that the bellhousing would hang by that bolt. then pop the bellhousing halfway off so it's hanging by the bolt and you have enough room to slide the release lever into position. make sure it comes out the correct hole on the bellhousing.

then while holding the release lever by the "spoon" where the slave cylinder actually pushes on it, tap the bellhousing onto the block again making sure it's flush. at this time, u can get a light and shine it thru the hole where the pivot shaft would go. get the lever to be lined up perfectly. then the pivot shaft slides in easily.

make sure u clean the hell out of the pivot shaft. and clean the hole where it goes into.

good luck

Well I got I back together but as I am tightenting the bolts the "spoon" on the release lever is pushed all the way to the front of the car...and I remember before there was a gap between the spoon and the side of the inspection hole, where as right now it's pushed all the way forward...kind of like the clutch is fully engaged....with no slave cylinder.

Will this change once I start the car or did I do something wrong?

well if anything, the spoon should be at the rear of the hole where the slave cylinder attachs...def not at the front.

Nope, on a new disc the "spoon" is forward in the hole, and moves back as the disc wears.

It does sound like you missed the TOB, however.

Thanks guys,

I was able to 3 of the bolts and remove the pivot shaft. I adjusted a little knocked the pivot shaft back in and got everything right. (Bolts went in a lot easier with the clutch for in the right place.) LoL!

Now I have bigger problems.

Bleh
