ignition lock hard to turn

So this morning, I got into my car and the ignition was hard to turn. I have to wiggle the key back and forth in order to get it to turn and start. The key isn't bent or anything. Anyone know what could have happened?

earwax solved my problem. could it be water? windshield deicer, then lube? the deicer destroys plastic parts, like window switches, maybe wd40 is better?

Put a rag under it to catch the drips and spray brakekleen in it untill it comes out clean.
Then give it a liberal dose of graphite key lube.

It works normally again all of a sudden. Maybe it is dirty inside. I will try cleaning it if it ever happens again. Thanks.

there is white grease on the pins inside the key switch . white grease gets old and hard after 20 years . just give it a shot of new white grease from a spray can or some wd-40 .

or try Caig Fader Lube - guaranteed not to mess-up plastic. Caig is electronics lubrication. All the audio guys use it.
