whats the cost to re-wrap a dash?
 

Anyone have their dash redone? what does this cost for just the re-wrap. I will do the removal and installation.

You'll spend just over $200 likely.

well thats alot better than buying a used(better) one.

If you want it perfect and leather it will be more than 200.... At least double that...

ah, I saw someone posted that they spent about $200 but that does seem a little on the low side.

That may have just been material....

It was me, and it was parts and labor. I had to pull the dash and hand it to him. I was very suprised about the price, but couldn't pass it up. I was referred there by a close mutual friend, so I might have gotten a break on the price. He might also have had the material laying around as scrap from a big job. He didn't say, and I didn't ask.

Check out 928 Leather Shop* Porsche Dashboard Restoration Seat Covers Hoodliners They do great work. I have bought from them before. They are very helpful over the phone, shipping was fast, and the product was high quality. You will pay for what you get. :)

Classic 9 Leather Shop: Dashboard, Leather Console Panel Covers Porsche Automobiles $699, you remove and install, they repair and recover. It looks like $300+ for the recover kit if you do it yourself.

I also want to add my recommendation for 928 leather, the work he does is spectacular...
Your dash ends up looking WAY better than the day it came out of the factory.

But it's not on the cheap side, for sure.

You need to look at the interior of the car wholistically. If you recover your dash, how will that new picece stack up against your seats, wheel, panels, carpet etc. New, refurbished items will make the old worn out stuff look more older.

The question you need to ask is how much to spend and what do I want the interior to look like.

Robert Budd of Classic 9 (the leathershop) does fantastic work. He did my seats, wheel and dash. It came with a cost which I was willing to spend.

It may not be what you want to spend; it's a personal choice.

Not included in the local upholstery price of mine was a panel from 928 Leather Shop to cover the defroster holes. They were great, and the panel works well.

I agree with the wholistic approach to your interior. The interior can be an incremental series of projects because they really don't build on each other. When I did my dash, it was about the only flaw left in my interior.

Hey, it's only $499 for an early 944, sweet! Keeping that in mind for the interior restoration phase (after the current exhaust manifold and cooling system stage, then the gas tank reseal phase, then the swap bar phase, etc. :rolleyes:)

I have just recently recovered my dash in leather and for just the materials I spent very close to $250.00 and that was not considering any of my labor. Extra work not included with the dash was to re-cover in leather the "A" Pillars, sun roof front and rear panels, sunroof inner panel, door panels and center console. I used an old Kenmore sewing machine with a leather needle and boy did that take practice to learn how to sew.

With an old dash that has cracks in the vinyl one must fill and sand the dash until it is almost perfect or all of those cracks or imperfections will show through the new leather, as it will not be smooth.
