944 stuck in 5th gear

Will not shift into any other gears, is my transmission shot?
Work just fine and all at once will not shift cannot even force it to, I am hoping it is the linkage?

is you clutch pedal unusually soft? if so you slave or master cyl prob blew a seal.

if the shift knob moves into all "gears" but car is still in 5th its most likely your linkage- theres a bolt that connects the rods right in front of the transaxle.

Clutch is pretty soft, since I am a new first time 944 owner, not quite sure.
I have had the car for 2 days, it has not run in 5 years! I got it running in 4 hours.
It drove and seem to have shifted fine prior to this incident. So, I am guessing that the slave blew like you said. I am and engineer and a mechanic from nuclear navy on sub so I am think I am qualified to do this restore.

Thanks I will check the linkage and the slave tonight.
