WTF: Rain cowl/tray porsche cannot design..

Good morning all.

I am still perplexed as to why Porsche did not incorporate some kind of rain cowl/ tray like most modern vehicles of it's time.

The fact that rain collects in an area (and sometimes drains) that the battery and other electronic reside in is plain silly to me.

Also, the area below the wipers/windshield and hood is completely open..

is there a solution anyone has come up with? I have though of fitting the rain cowl and tray from a later model VW passat.

Oh yeah, I have a 1984 944

I'd be all for this as well. It's highly annoying that they designed it open like that, and really sucks in the winter!

On the early models like my 83 you can at least keep the area clean and free of leaves and the drains clear. On the 85.5> it is much harder as leaves blow under the cowling. The plastic is really thin and gets brittle with age. Porsche glued it in place under the rear part of the fire wall seal and used double sticky back tape under the w/shield. I tried to clean all the crap from under mine and it crumbled. I ordered a new cowl from the Dealer $84.00 shipped, not all that bad. So consider your selves lucky that it is easy to keep clean. The Power of Positive Thinking makes all troubles seem small.

Cheers,
Larry

Yes! Keeping the rubber drains unclogged, so that the rain fails to "collect".
