Amp Placement and Speaker hook-up Questions in 944

I have the following set-up - JVC 35w head unit, Panasonic 4x6s front, infinity 4x6s in rear seat, infinity 6x9s in hatch. I just purchased a 200 watt (75 watt per channel), 2 channel, jensen amp.

I want to put the amp in the well under the hatch carpet - is this a proper location or will the lack of air circulation cause the amp to overheart?

Also, I only want to power the 6x9s with the amp. By connecting RCA cables from the head to the amp, will I be cutting out any sound to my 4x6s?

Thanks -

How many channels does the amp have??? If it has a built-in fan, you should be able to put the amp anywheres. I used to have my amp right in an enclosed subwoofer box - and that was a lot smaller than the area under the carpets and was pretty air tight - never had any problems. Some amps don't have fans built in, but have certain components that don't allow it to heat up (I can't remember what it is called).

Sorry - I didn't see that it was a two channel amp. My suggestion is run the front speakers off the head's amp (they usually have just enough power to run one set of speakers nice and clean) and use the two channels on your amp to run the subs and 6x9's. Make sure you cap and coil the subwoofers (that will take all the treble out of the subs and give you better bass). Does the amp have a built-in crossover? If it does, you won't have to cap and coil.
