OPRV - early 1 pc.
Hello all,
I have just removed my Oil Pressure Reducing Valve after noticing the oil pressure gauge has pegged a couple of times. I have found that it wiggles just below the threads of the long top nut - is it supposed to do this or is it broken. If it is broken how/what should be done to fix it ??? Thanks all

The cylinder that contains the piston is retained within the nut cap with a rubber o-ring. It is not solidly mounted and will feel loose. The important thing is that the piston slides freely and does not look scoured. There should also be an o-ring on the end. The o-ring holding the valve together can be replaced by pulling the cylinder out of the bolt head, which can be particularly difficult if the o-ring has hardened with age. If it is separated, the o-ring must be replaced, since it usually gets destroyed in the process. The pressure sender may be failing. The guage will peg with a bad sender.

Thanks HondaDustR - While I was at it I was going to replace the sender also.
I will take the OPRV apart and install new O'rings and a seal ring at the top. "If you are not having fun don't do it".
