86 951 Wheel Bearings

I recall on my 93 968 they were VW part numbers for the front wheel bearings. By using the VW part numbers I was able to save quite a bit on the wheel bearings.

Does anyone have any suggestions/part numbers for the VW equivlent wheel bearings for a 86 951?

Thx

Michael

OEM wheel bearings for the 944 are pretty cheap already (Look on Pelican for yourself). I would just go that route, as you are only going to save maybe $5 total...

Plus the 951 ones are beefier than NA. . .unlikely to have VW equivalent.

That doesn't make sense as the 87 - 95 951, 944 S2 & 968 all use the same inner an douter bearings and those are readily available as a VW part. No difference at all.

I just went to a local parts store for mine--bought some Made in USA (no kidding) Timken's and seals for under $40.

Looks like SET2 and SET6. ********.com has them for $4 and $5, respectively. Not sure about the p/n for the seal.
