944 ac relay

First time user here-. I need to replace the ac relay on my 1987 944 but it is "stuck" in it's housing. Short of putting a mechanical jaw on it, I cannot get it out of the sockets. I see and can feel no side clips. Could the prongs be rusted in? I have pulled other relays in the past and no problems . Any ideas?

Stuck relays

I have used a paint can opener with the small hook to pull stuck relays. The top will come off if you pull with your hand.

You migth want to try to get W-40 in there & let it soak for a while or if you can find a cane of (Prolab PL-Bio)penetrating lubricant the stuff is biodegradable & will work wonder,in both case "let soak & repeat if needed.

If you spray any of that stuff DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST.

The idea of using the paint can opener to pry up the AC relay worked!! .. it was really stuck in the sockets (5 prongs)but no signs of corrosion -- just a tight fit I guess.

Used a flathead on mine, battery already disconnected, wasn't very easy, I had to go at it from one side, then switch to the other side of the relay, to lift it evenly.. I'll have to check my old PC repair stuff to see if I still have the eprom puller. Looks similar to the paintcan opener business end, except it has a wide jaw with two lifting tabs, just might do the trick.
