Rollers for belts-Manufacturer question

I just purchased some rollers for my Water Pump and belts job on Ebay. Does anyone recognize the manufacturers name "Ruville"? Sounds maybe French but I have never heard of them.. Anyone know of their products or reputation?

Ruville is from China. Hangzhou Kangxin Bearing Manufacturing Co.,Ltd Throw it in the trash. I wouldnt put that on my car to save my life.

I'm a firm supporter of Zims rebuilt waterpumps, under a 100 bucks with a 2 year warranty.

I researched Reville last night and apparently they are an OEM roller manufacturer for VW, Audi and a few others. Nowhere did I see any reference to China. Kevin, please tell me you are joking.

Hmmm, the website for Ruville is:

RUVILLE: Home

And a list of their locations only shows Hamburg... didn't know that Hamburg had relocated to China...

OK.. Conceded.. However, Ruville is an established, reputable German Co and like most companies these days has manufacturing facilities everywhere. The feedback that I have gotten so far has been favorable.
Do you remember when we all had a problem with Japanese products? You might not be old enough to remember that, though. LOL

I certainly hope so because Kevin is really going to laugh at me if the rationale I stated before becomes bogus!!!

Gordon, The Ruville rollers are just fine, I have been using them for years with no problems. As for the naysayers who say they only use the kits offered by Zims Autotechnic, they obviously don't read packaging, the kits ZIMS sells include Ruville rollers. Nuff said.

I work at a vehicle manufacturer and we've had experience with this. A lot of real companies have licensed production of their products to these mercenary factories in China but don't clearly brand them as such. They usually provide conforming samples for testing, then cut two corners: switch to cheaper materials (higher carbon content steel that fails) and purposely ship out of spec units to come as close to the contract's defect rate as possible.

Unfortunatly, like 89-944NA points out, sometimes you can't avoid China. You can inspect the part to verify it is in working order, but its a crap shoot on the materials failing.

Thanks Phil.. I already have them but in an unopened box. And not worried, did a little of my own research and I am satisfied. Rec'd a few PM's confirming reliability too. So, the next question is, when to get put them and the water pump on?

Finally got around to checking the boxes.. 5 boxes labeled "Belt Tensioner" and"Made in Germany". Opened 5 boxes and found 4 rollers stamped Germany and one stamped Portugal. Both belts included are Continental, Included are the camshaft o-ring and the camshaft bolt plug and an empty bag for the camshaft seal (so need to track this down). So, all in all, I am very satisfied.

Update: camshaft seal (944-105-321-00) was not part of the deal, so I need to source this..
