Good used original parts highly recommended after some of the early failure stories I've seen for the new stock from the dealer/PP. One guy had to return the part twice due to total collapse within a week or two. And a set of lifters will easily fit into US priority mail small flat rate international box that goes anywhere for $12.

They will close just fine, just the lifter piston will just squish all the way down and bottom out on openning, most likely reducing valve lift, and it also makes a very disturbing metalic clacking noise that sounds kind of like a spun rod bearing.

When I bought my set of used lifters, the guy was kind enough to take a picture of them so that I could see that they were externally in good shape, meaning out of 8 of them, there was a pretty good chance at least a few of them are still good. I got the set for less than a single new crappy one and there were only two or three that were a little iffy. I only needed two good ones, so now I have spares. For a part of this nature, as-is unknown condition would be a good negotiating point to get a good cheap deal, so if by some chance you get an entire wasted set, you're not out a whole lot (ohh, except for the whole "being in Canada" thing if they need to come from over the border).

Oh, and obviously in a perfect world, used parts wouldn't be mixed and matched in this case, but options are limited and no obvious disasters have struck as long as the parts are of relatively equivalent wear and mileage used on stock cam profiles and valve springs. You would not want to run a beat to crap lifter with definite observable concavity on a cam that is in very good shape, or vice versa. Heavy valve springs and hotter cams will definitely greatly increase the risk for problems.

Yeah, great place a couple hours from my house. They got me a used A/C compressor for $150, the A/C belt which nobody else locally had in stock and the tensioning strut for like $20. Got it out in one day so I could get to work that Saturday
