Rough Start

For about the last 2 weeks I have been getting a pretty rough sounding engine that shakes for the first 3 minutes after I start it. The Rpm gauge reads at about 700 for those 3 minutes and as the car warms up it does stabilize at about 950-1000

Last night (first chilly night in Raleigh NC) the engine actually cut off after 5-7 seconds.

So is this just case of "The engine needs to warm up", or something else is at play here.

I have not experienced anything like that in the years I've had my Series 1 car, so I don't think its normal. I find my car idles a little high until I get temp, then it drops to 1k or so.

I really think it has something to do with this breathalyzer I had installed in my car 3 weeks ago. One, they broke the plastic hose that came out of the valve for the AC . Second, I went to my mechanic about a week ago after it stalled out on me and he stated the following " wiring (for the breathalyzer) at the ignition coil not installed properly/well. Potential for short, which could cause a no spark condition and/or cause car to not start or die while driving." Now I have this problem.

I am in no way mechanically inclined (might get laughed at for that one) but all these problems I got after this figgin thing was installed can't be just a coincidence.

Oh, and my odometer stopped working the day I stalled out.

Anyway, I'm gonna check all the plugs and the battery and see if that works. I just had one of those Sears 3 step "engine clean" services. Even though some really nasty stuff was coming out of the exhaust during engine clean , it did not solve the problem of the rough start, which I though would do the trick.

I have had my 944 since April but have only been driving it the last 4 weeks. I had a new AC compressor and reservoir installed, plus a recharge. New shifter (ripped off for 250), all new rotors, pads, front inner and outer tie rods, wheel alignment and new tires. Plus that engine clean service.
