Hey guys

Many thanks SmileWavy

Yep you need to remove the steering wheel - then there are 9 screws holding the gauge cluster cover - and four more for the gauge cluster it self, +++.

See Clark's Garage Shop Manual for an excellent write up procedure -

IIRC, You have an Air Bag. Disconnect the Battery for at least 30 min. to disable it and be very careful after that. That bag carries one heck of a wallop to the face.

If this is an air bag equipped car, you'll have to perform the air bag reset procedure to reset the air bag warning light. On newer 944s (S2) and on the 968 this must be done at the dealer with a Bosch-Hammer diagnostics tool.

Cheers,
Larry

My son tried it without pulling out the steering wheel. I never tried it though.
He pulled the cluster and changed the stock instrument lights to LED.
