Broke down today at pocono raceway...

On a staight away on full throttle in 4th gear(i was not shifting) I heard a load "ping" sound come from the rear, I then lost the clutch(it went right to the floor).
Engine sounds fine, I am able to put the car in any gear but clutch doesnt engage.
I have a few ideas but i'd like to hear yours.

Btw clutch goes up and down again but not the same, kinda like it lost a spring or something. Any thoughts?

thanks, leo

88 924s

Any pinging noise usually means tranny/gears. What do you mean the clutch goes up & down again but "its not the same"? Hydraulics don't make a noise when they go, nor do they suddenly fail while at speed, unless a leak went on un-noticed.

I second probing your R&P as well...
