Can't find rear lens with red turn signal
I have a 951 with a broken left rear taillight. The problem is on my car the turn signal lens is red, and all the replacements I can find are orange. Any idea where to source these red only (white reverse) lenses?
TIA Paul |
The lens was probably painted. Look at this thread i did a few years back.
Tinting the 944 rear turn signals red - Rennlist Discussion Forums |
Wow! thanks for the fast response. I said, "no way is it paint". Then I went out and checked and sure enough it is painted. I had not noticed, which translates to: 'what a great cheap upgrade!'
i will pick up the paint, and get it fixed. really appreciate this, as otherwise it looked like I was buying an orange one for the other side, so they matched, but still was not happy as they look way better in red. Kudos, Paul |
Does anyone have a pic of this? Seems like a pretty neat upgrade that I dont think I've ever seen.

just don't use your turn signals if a cop is behind you, red turn signals are illegal in the US
|
Apparently you havent ever been behind a Crown Victoria, let alone many other cars. Now the legality of changing the turn signals to red is debatable. I doubt most police or state inspects would even know the difference on these cars.

I would ted tint it. I have yet to see a paint that look great.

read the DOT regulations, only amber is allowed for turn indicaters

From DOT FMVSS/CMVSS 108
Code:
Rear Turn Signal/Hazard Warning Lamps |
maybe it's just the republik of kalifornia
I got a ticket a few years ago for red turn signals |
In Kalifornia it is also illegal to eat donuts in front of a cop without offering one
