DME Diagnostics Question
So if I'm right, these cars are OBD1 and as long as I have a diagnostics tool, I can connect to the computer somehow (where ever that connection point is) and have the car tell me itself, whats wrong, yes?
I'm getting a Blue-Point YA-3140 since it says I can update it to accept any car and has the connectors I need for any make out there. It also reads OBD-I and OBD-II systems. Would that work with 944s? Also, is there an FSM or PET somewhere that translates the codes from a 944's DME? I don't know any of the codes off hand sooooo... yea, I'm kinda a sitting duck at the moment lol As for the diagnostic tool, do you all think it is a good buy or is there something else out there just as good for 339USD or less? I've also been told I can reset the code so if any warning lights are on, I can make them go away once the problem has been fixed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1286246265.jpg |
The 944 is not OBD1. There is no diagnostic tool to hook-up.

These cars are OBD0, meaning that the engine computer does not set any codes. |
The mere idea of OBDanything is very far away from the Motronic...you should actually be glad, and they are simple to troubleshoot. What problem are you having?

Furthermore, there is no 'fault codes' stored at all. |

However, I now understand the DME's system and you said, yeah I'm glad to have something like this and not have to worry about resetting a code to make a light go away. I'm not having any problems (... yet lol) but this was a 'just in case/what if...' kind of planning, so I'd have the tool I'd need on hand with no delay. However, were the S2s and 968s OBD or still Motronic? I've got big plans once I get my garage built and a 968 powerplant is first on the list :P |
