Transaxle question. Help

Have my transaxle out for clutch repair. It appeared that the shift rod retaining plate (upper right side of TA) was leaking. So I removed to reseal. HOWEVER, the spring loaded shaft popped out and now does not want to slide back in. The main shift rod on the other side also will no longer slide back and forth in the normal fashion. Now, I cannot work the shifter at all. It's as if the shift rod became un-indexed with whatever it was supposed to index into. Please tell me I do not have to get into the tranny to fix this! Help

you do not have to disassemble gearbox just see if all the shafts line up with notches and push the shaft (spring loaded) into the side of the gearbox and attach the shift rod with 8mm pointed bolt then gently pry the shaft over and install cover with 3 - 6mm bolts. regards tom

Thanks, Tom. You gave me the confidence to press forward. It seems that the spring loaded pin on top became disengaged from it's spot(at least I hope that's what happened). I backed out the pin...and now the shift rod slides in. I repositioned the pin back into a slot in the shift rod and that seemed to get everything back to normal. With all sealed up again...shifting seems normal again. BTW, the only diagrams/pictures I could find to help me sort this out were from the parts book. Anyone know of any links to more complete diagrams...or pictures?
