speed sensor washer?
This may sound kind of stupid or obvious, but, how important is the washer under the speed senor. Obviously they put it there for a reason. I haven't had one on the speed sensor for about 1 year and the car ran fine. I am replacing the sensors and I'm going to get a washer, and my question is, is the washer something special or can I just use any washer that is .3mm thick? Also I don't know if I have the sleeve on the reference sensor. The reference sensor is a very tight fit so I am guessing that the sleeve is staying in the bracket when I take out the sensor. Am I right in assuming that?

This link may help you.
The washer you refer to is actually a "shim" to use if necessary ----optional----to get the speed sensor gap of .8mm. The shims are either .2mm or .3mm thick. Used on the late 3 hole sensor bracket. Speed/Ref sensor gap question using Sharky's tool - Rennlist Discussion Forums GL John |
I am still confused. With reference sensor all the way in and tightened down, speed sensor out, with the bracket loose and the car at TDC. Glue .8mm washer to the bottom of the speed sensor, put speed sensor back in the bracket with OUT the .3mm washer and tighten sensor. Then tighten the bracket. Remove sensor and remove glued on washer(.8mm), then reinstall speed sensor and tighten.
After doing these things would I have both sensors adjusted to the correct height?(.8mm) |
