85.5 Rear of Engine - 3 Ground Locations?
There are three ground wires wanting to connect at the rear of the engine.
Large ground from the battery is obvious and I labeled this properly, so its connected. There are two more brown grounds coming out of the DME bundle - one with a large connector and one with a smaller connector. The first looks like it wants to connect at the same bolt as does the large battery ground - would this be ok? I could also connect this to the back bolt of the rear water-neck. The second brown ground wire (with smaller hole connector), I've labeled, but cannot find its mating label and have no idea where this goes. Somewhere near the other two...but I cannot find any bolts of the right size for this within reach of this ground. I've done lots of searching for ground locations for the 85.5, but cannot find anything specific enough with good photos. Any hints? Thanks! |

Have a look at this string from Techno Duck. Should be exactly what you are after;

Don't know about the 85.5 but on the early car (this is some of the grounds connections at the rear of the motor & to the firewall.

Holy smokes Ernie! I sure can't see mine that easily... And there's an open hole to contend with at the back. Drop a nut in there and you are fubar'd.

There is another smaller threaded bolt hole in the block or intake in the vicinity of the large ground for the smaller ground. My bolt is snapped off and I have been unable to get an easy out in to repair it. So I bolted the ground to the bracket for the flywheel sensors.
